***first published by Faces of Feminism on their Instagram page as a post and their website. I submitted this originally on September 5th 2020.

Selfie of the author in a blue-walled living room. A hallway with yellow was is seen behind her, with doggy pee mats on the wooden floorboards. The author is in the foreground, and is the subject of the image. She has dark hair, eyebrows and irises. She has white-rimmed sunglasses pushed up on top of her head. She also has two beauty marks, one on her right eyelid and another on her left upper lip. She has a silver, horseshoe-shaped septum piercing in her nose. Her lips are chapped and red, and she has pink blush on her cheeks. Lastly, she is wearing a monotone brown round-necked cotton T-shirt. At the bottom right of the image is the repost tag which consists of a white rectangular background with the tag @facesofeminism.
I was dog sitting a basset hound last year in this picture when the sun hit perfectly through the windows and I just knew I needed to take a selfie. Edited with Instagram.

Jaime, she/they

“I am a feminist because it makes the most sense to me as a framework of cultivating a future that identifies, analyzes & validates the threads weaving reproductive justice and women's rights with the unbridled desensitization and deployment of racism, misogyny, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, fatphobia, in every day life.”

“I am a feminist because, contrary to popular white heteronormative belief, power in the political, industrial, and educational systems need to be reexamined and eventually redistributed through the lens of race, class, gender, and sexuality, as these historically devalued communities are still struggling in intentionally segregated fragments, in the fabric of white patriarchy.”

“Lastly, I am a feminist because my feminism stands for liberation from all interconnected struggles and violence, across border states, regardless of diaspora, and that is the identity I know I will be proud of on my deathbed.”
