jaime + amygdala = jaimygdala
The amygdala is a part of the limbic (emotion) system in the brain involved in thought regulation, long-term memory, and emotional processing. As a Neuroscience major, and an avid pun enthusiast, 'jaimygdala' was inevitable. You are welcome, world.
pronouns: they/she/dia
Multilingual Chinese Malaysian fascinated with the arts, sciences, and mischief, Jaime Mah is an INTJ feminist with a coffee-stained heart, based in Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A. An alumna of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Neuroscience, minor in Theatre and research in entomology, she is also actively engaged in social activism, especially racial justice and mutual aid initiatives, as well as all actions against xenophobia, transphobia, and fatphobia, amongst other discriminations so rife in the world. She believes in the equity, autonomy, and justice of the global majority, and supports the coalition of Black, Latine, Indigenous, Asian, and other oppressed communities harmed through the same system: white supremacy. She intends to continuously use her privilege and abilities to amplify and advocate, learn and unlearn, and most of all, to continuously sow actions for a future she can die proud of.
Currently, Jaime is a caucus co-leader for OPAWL (it initially stood for Ohio Progressive Asian Women's Leadership), a grassroots organization advancing Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women and nonbinary people in Ohio. Professionally, Jaime works as a veterinary technician and veterinary lead for a mobile clinic, as well as a pet sitter and dog walker through word of mouth. She is also enrolled as a veterinary technician student at Penn Foster, and is expected to graduate with her Associate's later this year. Veterinary school is the dream.
On days of leisure, she is most probably found snub-nosed in a book, engaging in self-improvement of some kind, taking ballet classes under the tutelage of instructors Mara Frazier, Russell Lepley and Fili Pelacchi, out hiking trails with Jenkins, or hibernating for a solid 10 hours at a minimum. She misses her Southeast Asian home every day, and hopes that this site brings some form of digital comfort and connection to her family members and loved ones, as Jaime's Facebook account and other social presences not otherwise stated in this site, are now (hopefully) defunct.
